Until just a few months ago, when a customer came to iMural to meet with us, get a quote, see our products, and discuss the countless possibilities of working with our beautiful family business, a common desire would often arise: having a Murphy bed in king size. Until just a few months ago, we had to say that this was unfortunately not yet possible...
The manufacturing measurements, the size of the bed front, reinforcing and further solidifying the sides of the bed, the weight (THE HEAVY WEIGHT!!!) of the bed front, which, let’s not forget, also becomes the base of the bed once opened—none of it worked. Our mechanisms known at that time couldn’t support such a construction. Making a Murphy bed may seem easy: it’s a box containing another box that holds a mattress and moves up and down. However, it’s a hundred times more complex and thought out... Everything is calculated; the dimensions and different weights of each piece, including the mattress, etc. Everything is taken into account to ensure that the mechanisms are optimal, and thus your use is optimal as well. That’s when we brought in a new supplier of mechanisms at iMural. Our initial interest in them was because we loved the legs—those beautiful black steel legs, angled inward when the bed is open, with a crossbar in the center that makes opening ultra easy... We dreamed of it! But what we especially discovered was that the entire hardware is simply exceptional. Enter Murphy Wall-Beds Inc. Today, developed internationally, they are based in Western Canada and provide us with high-quality systems designed in Europe according to the strictest standards. We named our products made with Murphy Wall-Beds systems the Murphy Vancouver. You guessed it!!! Thanks to their outstanding hardware and the craftsmanship of our artisans in our manufacturing facility, the impossibility of making king size Murphy beds quickly became a thing of the past! The Murphy Vancouver system is robust yet perfectly lightweight. It offers king size while including ease, strength, safety, and comfort (of course!). We are the only manufacturers of Murphy beds in Quebec to offer wall beds in king size! Want one? Curious? Come be impressed by the presence of our demonstration model in our Laval showroom. We can provide you with a plan, a quote, and sell it at our three locations as well. Tempted? A king-size bed that folds up against the wall—how wonderful is that? See you soon! In manufacturing, everything relies on cutting—the cutting of the bed, storage modules, cabinets, desks, and each piece of your project. Our team leader, responsible for procedures, ensures that the correct measurements are accurately entered into the CNC software. We use a CNC ("Computer Numerical Control") machine to cut all the pieces we need for your manufacturing. Once the machine has completed this work and each piece is on a cart (or two, and sometimes even three carts!), the second stage begins: edge banding. We change locations in our factory and proceed to the technical step of applying a finish to the edges of the cut melamine boards for each piece. This work is essential in the manufacturing process for any bed/module, as it seals the cut melamine boards and provides the desired aesthetic look. The initial finishing of each piece, as well as the first cleaning, is done at the end of this step. Next comes the assembly of the pieces—the most important part in bringing your bed to life. According to the plan designed for your project, we also determine at this stage which modules/parts we can assemble in the factory and which ones will need to be assembled on-site by the installers. This depends on the space available in your home (the entrance, stairs, corridor leading to the room where the project will be installed, ceiling height, etc.), as well as the weight of the units for our installers. Units (cabinets, desk drawers, foldable bed fronts, etc.) that can be assembled in the factory will be assembled. The second finishing and the second cleaning of your project will take place immediately afterward! Once all the pieces are assembled, numbered, and finished, our craftsmen meticulously package all the components of your bed and project. The final step: our qualified installers come to pick up the pieces of your bed, carefully load them securely into our delivery-installation trucks, and then bring them to your home to complete the work by assembling everything! Again, we will take care of the final touches on the sets and the last cleaning before leaving, so you can enjoy your new Murphy bed! From the factory to your home, iMural is proud to offer the best of every piece and to fulfill your desires! Ludovick Nault-Daigle Salesperson at iMural |
